The History of the National HREC Conference

The Conference was established in 2020 by Dr Gordon McGurk and the initial organising committee, with admin provided by Health Translation Queensland (HTQ). From an initial registration number of around 660, the Conference has grown significantly, with over 4000 registrations in 2025. This increase is mainly due to the content and quality of the event and also because it provides an accessible opportunity for all involved in human research ethics. We are very grateful to have ad the support of HTQ until this year.

One unique feature of the Conference has been that as far as possible, all presentations are recorded and published so that all ethics personnel have unlimited access to the content. In this way many relevant topics and information can be sourced.
