About the 7th National HREC Conference

Connecting human research ethics committees, coordinators and researchers across Australia, Aotearoa New Zealand, and Singapore through a free online conference from 16โ€“19 November 2026.

Our purpose

Why this conference matters

The Australian Research Ethics and Integrity Initiative is proud to bring you the 7th National Human Research Ethics Committee (HREC) Conference, incorporating Aotearoa New Zealand and this year, Singapore.

The conference continues to be free and online and will run from 16-19 November 2026 with a workshop day on 16 November. The conference increases in participation annually, with more than 4000 registrations in 2025.

It seeks to bring together ethics committee members, ethics coordinators and researchers from around Australia, New Zealand and Singapore to foster dialogue, share knowledge and promote best practices in the ethical conduct of human research.

This conference offers a unique opportunity to engage with leading voices and explore critical issues that shape research ethics.

Over the course of the workshop day and the 3-day conference, you will have the chance to participate in a variety of online sessions, including keynote addresses, workshops and online discussion panels, aimed at enhancing your practical and ethical application of your skills and knowledge.

Delivered through live Zoom webinars and post-conference recordings, the conference is designed to maximise attendee engagement and ensure broad access to all content.

The conference will be held in the AEST-Queensland (Brisbane) time zone (GMT+10). Given the varying territories, states and New Zealand and Singapore time zones, we will try to accommodate these factors into our planning. We are again grateful to the organising committee and to our supporters and look forward to your attendance.
